21 November 2009 – Liverpool fans all around share a common camaraderie, and this was proven yet again as MyRAWK played host to visiting Reds from Johor and Singapore today, in a “Liverpool Fans Mini Tournament” futsal event held at Sports Planet in Sunway today.

The tournament was organized in conjunction with the EPL Masters Football Malaysia Cup. What better way to get fellow Kopites together than with an afternoon of kicking balls!

A total of 4 teams were featured, made up of MyRAWK, The Kopites, The Shankly List and El Ninoz FC. All teams meet each other once in a round-robin format, and the top 2 and bottom 2 qualify for the Finals / 3rd-4th placing.

MyRAWK started slow and lost 2-1 to The Kopites, but recovered to a 3-2 win against El Ninoz. The team secured a place in the Final with a 2-1 win over Shankly List in the last group game.

The Final pitted MyRAWK against The Kopites, who had earlier won 2-1 in the group stage. MyRAWK got off to a nightmarish start, trailing 3-0 within the first half through some excellent strikes from the Kopites strikers.

MyRAWK then piled on the pressure in the second, hoping to create an “Istanbul” of its own, and was rewarded with a goal soon after. The team then had numerous attempts thwarted by the Kopites’ goalkeeper who was in excellent form.

In the end, The Kopites deservingly took home the Champion’s Trophy with a 3-1 win.

MyRAWK’s VP Jonathan “Rafa” Cheah ended the event with a short speech and he, together with Apai from The Shankly List, presented the prizes to the winners.

A special thanks go out to all who participated in the tourney, who took photographs, and especially the guys from the Shankly List who performed a miracle preparing medals and trophies over a single day in Singapore, right before the trip to KL!

11 JULY 2009 – MyRAWK put up a credible performance and made it to the Quarterfinals in the inaugural SIB Futsal tournament held at The Challenger Sports Center in Cheras. The event featured a World Cup format where 32 teams were divided into 8 groups, and the top 2 made it into the knock-out rounds.

MyRAWK cleared the early games with 3 consecutive victories to top Group H. This was followed by another victory in the 2nd round but the team’s progress was halted in the last 8 when they were paired up against a speedy and organized Brickfields 5 team. MyRAWK was hit with 2 quick goals early in the game, and although the team pulled one back in the 2nd half, it wasn’t enough as MyRAWK were eliminated 2-1.

Allan Lee emerged as MyRAWK’s top scorer with 4 goals, and credit to goalkeeper Hazbullah whose string of saves throughout the tournament attracted pats on the back even from the audience!
